Lockheed Martin's Skunk Works® has been known for producing disruptive or "impossible" technology such as the SR-71A Blackbird which can reach Mach 3. While the term is a registered trademark, "skunkworks" has been applied popularly to teams that tackle radical innovation projects usually within a larger organization.
